Campus Status: Normal Operations Today, Essential Response Begins Saturday 

Gardner-Webb University continues to monitor winter weather conditions and their potential impact on campus operations. 

The University remains on normal operating hours today. Faculty, staff, and students should prioritize their own health and safety. Travel plans to and from campus should be carefully evaluated in light of rapidly developing weather conditions.  

Upcoming Operational Changes 

Beginning at 12 a.m. on Saturday, January 31 through Sunday, February 1, the University will transition to our Inclement Weather Plan & Essential Employees Response Team 2, which includes grounds, maintenance, and housekeeping. 

Weekend face-to-face classes at the Charlotte campus have moved to a synchronous online format. Professors will contact affected students directly with further information regarding coursework and expectations. 

Students enrolled in clinicals, practicums, or internships should contact their program coordinator and/or instructor for further guidance.

Dining Services 

• Friday: All dining open normal hours 
• Saturday and Sunday:  
  • Cafeteria – will operate on reduced hours from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. In addition to our dine in service, students will also be offered to go options to accommodate the change in hours 
• All other dining locations closed 

Dover Library – Closed beginning 5:00 p.m. January 30 – Sunday, February 1. 

Suttle Wellness Center – Closed beginning 7:00 p.m. January 30 – Sunday, February 1. 

Campus Preparedness and Safety 

Preparations have been made to ensure campus facilities are prepared to safely accommodate students in the event of a power outage. Additional information will be shared if needed. 

Please reference the campus map for primary walking routes and avoid barricaded areas and areas marked with caution tape. Use caution on sidewalks, stairs, and parking areas. In some cases, walking on the grass may provide better traction. Report any safety or maintenance concerns promptly. 

An update will be provided tomorrow at 12 p.m, or earlier if conditions change.
