Title IX states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied benefit, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Title IX is an anti-discrimination law based on gender. Sexual harassment and sexual assault are considered discrimination and fall under Title IX protection on a university campus. The Title IX Coordinator at Gardner-Webb University is here to identify Title IX related issues, to oversee complaints, conduct investigations and to ensure consistency in following policies and procedures. The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for annual training on Title IX and the Violence against Women Act amendments to the Clery Act. The Title IX Coordinator is also responsible for the distribution of other educational materials relating to these topics which may be picked up at the office of the Vice-President for Student Development in the Tucker Center.
