The University Police Department is a multi-functional service agency dedicated to the protection of the University community through local, state, and federal laws.
Crime prevention and campus safety are shared responsibilities that require the cooperation and involvement of students and employees alongside the eight full-time officers who have been certified by the N.C. Attorney General’s Office. Officers patrol the entire campus on foot, Segways, and in marked/unmarked University Police vehicles. The University Police Department is located in the Poston Center and operates on a 365 day, 24-hour basis.

The Safety Escort Service has proven to be a valuable service to our community. It is operated through the University Police Department and is available from dusk to dawn. Students, Faculty, Staff and Visitors may use the service by calling University Police at 704-406-4444. We will escort you from your location on campus to your chosen on-campus destination.
Campus Watch is a community-orientated policing program. The purpose of this program is to educate the students of Gardner-Webb University about safety precautions, safety awareness, and crime prevention. An additional purpose is to help promote an open line of communication between University Police and the students and to ensure the students that Gardner-Webb University is dedicated to make the campus and its surroundings as safe as possible.
University Police hosts numerous Campus Watch meetings and safety seminars throughout the year. Topics have included Property Identification, Personal Safety, Self Defense, and Safety While Exercising Outdoors.’
