Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Phi Upsilon

The Gardner-Webb University Hunt School of Nursing is privileged to have its own Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing Chapter, Phi Upsilon. STTI is the only nursing honor society dedicated to improving the health of the world’s people, thus the name Sigma Theta Tau International.

Baccalaureate and graduate nursing students meeting the eligibility criteria for membership, having endorsement for membership, and approval for membership by Phi Upsilon Board of Directors are invited for membership and to an induction ceremony. Phi Upsilon is not funded through Gardner-Webb University but is maintained independently through membership fees and fund-raising activities. 

Phi Upsilon membership requirements for baccalaureate nursing students are:

  • Completion of a minimum of 1/2 of the nursing curriculum.
  • A 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale on all courses taken through Gardner-Webb University.
  • Rank in the upper 35% of their graduating class.
  • Meet expectations of academic and professional integrity, and potential for leadership.
