Alumni, Family and Friends Invited to GWU Night at the American Legion World Series

Full series passes, VIP Tent access, and Meal Included for Aug. 13 Celebration

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb is inviting alumni, family and friends of the University to celebrate the boys of summer at the American Legion World Series (ALWS) at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, N.C.  

Friday, Aug. 13, will be Gardner-Webb University Night at Veterans Field, and interested fans can have the opportunity to experience more than just the action on the diamond. Limited spaces are available for the VIP experience that includes an air-conditioned fan tent, a pre-game meal and tickets for the entire run of the series (Aug. 12-17). The VIP tent and all-you-can-eat buffet will open at 6 p.m. and Gardner-Webb Head Baseball Coach Jim Chester is scheduled to throw out the first pitch for the 7 p.m. game on Friday night.

Tickets are available at $8 each (a $35 value), and they can be purchased online at gardner-webb.edu/gardner-webb-university-night.

The American Legion World Series offers nearly a week of baseball competition (15 total games). Select games will also be streamed on ESPN3 while the semifinals and championship game will be broadcast on ESPNU. Teams come from places like Fargo, N.D., Tupelo, Miss., and Honolulu. Defending ALWS champions, Idaho Falls will be back in this this year’s tournament and hoping to take home a second consecutive title.
