Gardner-Webb’s Online Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education Honored for Excellence

Learn.org Ranks College of Education Third in North Carolina and 28th in the Nation

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—The Gardner-Webb University College of Education recently received national and state recognition for its online bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Learn.org, an independent higher education research firm, ranked GWU’s program 28th in the nation and third in North Carolina.

“This recognition reflects our student-centered and knowledgeable faculty, our excellent candidates, the hardworking educators (alumni) in the field, and the support of visionary leaders at GWU,” Dr. Prince Bull, dean of the College of Education, affirmed. “Our online elementary education program is unique, because we cater to the needs of our adult learners and serve teacher assistants across North Carolina.”

Gardner-Webb’s curriculum provides future educators the foundation they need to succeed in the classroom. Among the various topics students study are the stages of child development, unique needs of exceptional students, useful strategies for the classroom, and communication skills.

Editors at Learn.org described several unique aspects of Gardner-Webb’s program, such as scholarships,  hands-on learning experiences, and faith-based and service-learning opportunities.

Learn.org’s school ranking methodology categorizes and assesses data from schools and other reliable sources, such as the U.S. Department of Education, and weighs the information based on quality, cost, value and other factors critical to students’ academic decisions.
