Note on Licensure ReciprocityGraduates who earn North Carolina educator licensure through Gardner-Webb University are eligible to seek reciprocal licensure in most other states and territories that participate in the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement. While reciprocity does not guarantee automatic licensure in another state, it generally allows individuals holding a valid North Carolina license to apply for a comparable license in a participating state, often with limited or no additional coursework required.
Please note that the reciprocity process is distinct from the state-by-state educational requirements listed below. The table indicates whether Gardner-Webb University’s education programs, as approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), meet the educational requirements for initial licensure in each state. States marked “No” may still accept North Carolina licensure through NASDTEC reciprocity, but applicants must meet that state’s application, testing, and background check requirements.
