The New- Era Identification Camp is open to all High school aged players as well as any junior college or 4- year NCAA transfers looking to become a part of the New Era of Gardner-Webb Soccer. Numerous local College coaches will also be invited to attend in order to give you the best opportunity to expose yourself to as many schools as possible.
The format of the camp gives players the chance to train as the Gardner-Webb Men’s Soccer Team would and also showcase yourself in a game-like setting.
You will also have the opportunity to have a ‘true’ college experience, spending your nights in our student residence halls.

Scott is head coach for the men’s soccer team. He came to Gardner-Webb after building UNC Greensboro into a top-5 national program as associate head coach and lead recruiter. Before that, he was the top assistant at the University of Charleston (WV). While there, he helped guide the team to a pair of NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances and the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championship.
Wells began his college coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Rio Grande (OH), helping the Red Storm to a 19-2-2 mark and a No. 1 national ranking during the 2014 regular season. The following season, as the program’s top assistant, Wells saw Rio Grande win the 2015 NAIA National Championship and post a 25-2 record.
Wells played collegiately at Limestone in nearby Gaffney, S.C., helping the Saints to 24 wins over two seasons as a team captain. He transferred to the school after beginning his career at Santa Barbara (Calif.) City College. Wells was a first-team All-Western State Conference choice in each of his two seasons with the Vaqueros.
Wells earned his B.A. in liberal studies from Limestone and a Master’s Degree with a focus on collegiate leadership from Rio Grande. He grew up in the Coventry City academy system in England before moving to Derby County in 2003 and Sheffield Wednesday in 2006. He came to the United States in 2007 to begin his college soccer career at Santa Barbara. Wells and his wife, Carissa, are parents to three young children, Jaxon, Harper, and Harlee. His interests include watching soccer, playing golf, and meeting new people and creating valuable relationships and friendships.
O’Donnell comes to the Runnin’ Bulldogs after spending the past two seasons in the same role at Robert Morris University near Pittsburgh.
O’Donnell also gained experience while in Pennsylvania working as an assistant coach with the NPSL’s Pittsburgh Hotspurs Soccer Club.
Robert Morris saw three men named All-Horizon League in 2022 and one earn All-Freshman honors in 2021.
Prior to his move to the Keystone State, O’Donnell worked as a graduate assistant coach at Bethany College in West Virginia from 2019-2021.
O’Donnell played collegiately at Bethany from 2015-2018, logging minutes in 75 matches (74 starting assignments). He scored 10 goals and dropped off 11 assists during that time for 31 career points.
A native of Cardiff, Wales, O’Donnell earned an undergraduate degree in recreation, athletic administration and coaching education in 2019. He earned a master’s degree in teaching and leadership in 2021 from Bethany.
Barber enjoyed a successful season as head coach at Milligan University in 2022, leading the Buffaloes to a 10-3-7 record, a first-place conference finish and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
The Leeds, England, native was named Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for his efforts. Milligan recovered from an 0-2-3 start to carry a 15-match unbeaten streak into the national tournament.
Barber led the Buffaloes to a 9-1-3 league mark and mentored the AAC Player of the Year and three All-AAC selections in 2022.
He spent time as an assistant coach at the Division I level at Georgia Southern (2018-2020) and Temple (2016-2017), helping Georgia Southern to the Sun Belt Tournament final in 2018 and a final RPI of 75. He helped Temple to 19 wins over two seasons in Philadelphia and a third place finish in the conference in 2017. Barber also spent time on coaching staffs at Auburn-Montgomery (2021), Eastern Florida State (2015) and the University of Mobile (2014).
He played collegiately at both Limestone and Florida Tech, graduating from Florida Tech with a degree in business administration with a minor in sustainability in 2014. Barber also serves as an assistant coach for the semi pro USL2 club Asheville City.
Cost is $350, with a $20 discount for faculty and staff. If you are part of a group (HS team or club) of 10 or more, the cost is $300.
