Through Foothills Commitment and Piedmont Promise, Eligible Freshmen Living on Campus Receive a Minimum of 50 Percent Off Tuition

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—The Gardner-Webb Enrollment Team continues to accept applications for the 2022 Fall Semester. University officials are committed to keeping GWU’s quality education affordable by offering a tuition freeze for the fourth year in a row and with financial aid offerings in institutional scholarships and grants. Included in these awards are the Foothills Commitment and Piedmont Promise, which support students from the local area and surrounding counties.

The Foothills Commitment is available to residents of Cleveland, Lincoln, Gaston and Rutherford counties, and the Piedmont Promise is for Mecklenburg County residents. These initiatives provide a minimum of $15,610 (50 percent of tuition) in all forms of institutional aid to new freshmen students from those counties who enroll in a full-time residential undergraduate program at GWU. The reduced rate is renewable, and residents from these counties who apply to GWU and meet the qualifications will automatically be a part of the program. Students also need to file the FAFSA form.

GWU President William Downs observed, “Gardner-Webb University provides a world-class education that is both affordable and accessible to our neighbors in and around Cleveland County. Through the Foothills Commitment and the Piedmont Promise, we are making GWU the college of first choice for students and families throughout the region. Welcome home, future Bulldogs!”

Lauren McIntyre received the Foothills
Scholarship and was a member
of the GWU Marching Bulldogs.

Receiving the Foothills Scholarship helped Lauren McIntyre, of Lincolnton, N.C., be able to attend the college where she felt at home. She’s majoring in religious studies with the goal of becoming a youth minister. McIntyre shared, “I am from a single parent household, so money can be tight. Anything that I can get in scholarships means that I can go to school and meet amazing people while making great memories.”

She decided to visit Gardner-Webb after a friend told her about the University. After applying to GWU, she came for a tour and was impressed with the beautiful grounds and friendly people. “You meet so many amazing people in and out of the classroom,” McIntyre praised. “The best part is that there are things for everyone. Overall, GWU has been an amazing experience for me, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.”

Applying to Gardner-Webb is free for traditional undergraduate students. For more information about admissions and other financial aid opportunities, email [email protected] or call 704-406-2550.
