Born from Greek mythology, the story of Prometheus is one of heroism, sacrifice, hope, and progress. Crown will tell the hero’s story in four acts. Fans can see the show for the first time at CrownLIVE! at Gardner-Webb University in Spangler Stadium on Saturday, June 15. The evening also includes the Hall of Fame ceremony. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with warmups on the field. The live performance will begin at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 for ages 11 and older, and free for children 10 and younger. Purchase tickets. Executive Director Joe Roach said everyone in the Corps is looking forward to a great event and the touring season. “Once we depart Gardner-Webb University, we will head to Clover, S.C., for a final week of rehearsals before heading to Indiana for our Drum Corps International premiere on June 28,” Roach shared. The story of Prometheus has been told in many variations across centuries. At its core it is a story of humanity embracing the Promethean ideal, of being daringly original and creative — the story of dance, music, and art. Musical selections include: American Prometheus by Ludwig Emil Tomas Gorranson. Run! by Benjamin Wallfisch. Define Dancing by Thomas Newman. Fraternity by Thierry Deleruyelle. Original work by world-renowned composer John Mackey. Gardner-Webb University is North Carolina’s recognized leader in private, Christian higher education. A Carnegie-Classified Doctoral/Professional University, GWU is home to nine colleges and schools, more than 80 undergraduate and graduate majors, and a world-class faculty. Located on a beautiful 225-acre campus in Boiling Springs, N.C., Gardner-Webb prepares graduates to impact their chosen professions, equips them with the skills to advance the frontiers of knowledge, and inspires them to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of others.
