Dr. Hebert Palomino

Professors, School of Divinity

Dr. Hebert Palomino, professor of pastoral care and counseling in the Gardner-Webb University School of Divinity, accepted an invitation to be the main speaker for the Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Continuous Education Week, held at the Paraguayan Baptist Medical Center in Asuncion, Paraguay, South America. His trip was made possible by economic support from the School of Divinity.

As part of this event, the Paraguayan Baptist Medical Center and the Health Department of the Paraguayan Government will celebrate the National Day of Organ Transplants on July 9. The first heart transplant in Paraguay took place on that day in 1996 at the Baptist Medical Center. Palomino was the chaplain who facilitated the care process for the first heart transplant patient and will speak at the service commemorating the special occasion. Palomino is grateful for the School of Divinity Dean Dr. Robert Canoy and the University for helping him to be a part of these events.
