Gardner-Webb Baseball Plays Thursday, May 25, in Big South Championship Opening Round

Runnin’ Bulldogs Take on No. 1 Campbell at 1 p.m. in High Point, N.C.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs baseball will play on Thursday, May 25, in the opening round of the 2023 Big South Baseball Championship in High Point, N.C. (Truist Point).

The double-elimination tournament is scheduled for May 25-27, and will feature the top four teams in the final standings. The winner of the tournament will receive the Big South Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.

The first game—No. 1 Campbell vs. No. 4 GWU—is set for 1 p.m. The second game, No. 2 USC Upstate vs. No. 3 Winthrop, is scheduled for 5 p.m.

To clinch a spot in Big South Conference Championship play, Gardner-Webb jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 15-3 win over Charleston Southern Friday, May 19. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are 15-12 in regular Big South Conference play and finished their season with a 31-23 overall record.

Fan attendance and any restricted seating capacity for the Baseball Championship is at the sole discretion of the High Point Rockers. Gates to Truist Point will open one hour prior to the first game of each day.

Thursday, May 25 (Games 1-2) – ESPN+ | DAY 1 TICKETS

  • Game 1 – #1 Campbell vs. #4 Gardner-Webb, 1 p.m.
  • Game 2 – #2 USC Upstate vs. #3 Winthrop, 5 p.m.

Friday, May 26 (Games 3-5) – ESPN+ | DAY 2 TICKETS

  • Game 3 – Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 11 a.m. (elimination game)
  • Game 4 – Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 3 p.m.
  • Game 5 – Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 7 p.m. (elimination game)

Saturday, May 27 – (Championship Day) – ESPNU | DAY 3 TICKETS

  • Game 6 – Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5, noon
  • Game 7 – If necessary, 4 p.m. – ESPN+
