Strength and Conditioning Coach has over 40 years of Fitness Experience BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Chip Sigmon, a nationally acclaimed speaker and strength and conditioning coach, will speak at Gardner-Webb University on Monday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. in the College of Health Sciences. Hosted by the Department of Exercise Science, Sigmon will discuss “The Culture of Strength and Conditioning.” The program is free and open to the public. Chip Sigmon Dr. Jonathan M. Ahearn, assistant professor and chair of the Department of Exercise Science, praised Sigmon as a personal trainer and wellness coordinator who promotes, embraces, and encourages lifelong learning. “Chip is a legend and legacy to the strength and conditioning profession,” Ahearn added. “He has served in the profession at all levels from high school to professional. Chip served as the first strength coach at Appalachian State University and has spent a large majority of his career as a strength coach at the collegiate level, the NBA, and in the private sector.” Based in Charlotte, N.C., Sigmon’s clients include top-level professional, college, and high school athletes, along with top business men and women. However, Ahearn described Sigmon as “one of the humblest individuals I have ever met, and he loves to pour his extensive knowledge and wisdom into young professionals.” With his over 40 years of fitness experience, Sigmon is well recognized for developing and implementing innovative fitness and athletic performance programs. He emphasizes strength training methods and modalities for all ages.
