Advanced Players from the Community and Area High Schools and Colleges are Welcome

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—The Gardner-Webb University Orchestra is accepting new members. All advanced players are welcome—students, faculty and staff at other universities and high schools, and community members.

Gardner-Webb students receive an automatic scholarship of $1,000 per year for playing in orchestra, and there are no fees for community and high school members to participate.

This year, the orchestra is playing various pieces, such as Copland Lincoln Portrait, Sibelius Symphony #2 Finale, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2, Rossini William Tell Overture, Marquez Danzon #9, Strauss Die Fledermaus Waltzes, Satchmo, and Beethoven Egmont Overture. Christmas selections include Fiesta de Navidad, Go Tell it On the Mountain, Greensleeves, and We Three Kings.

The group will also perform the Broadway musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” O’Connor Strings and Threads, and many more standard repertoire pieces.

To join, contact Dr. Patricia Sparti, by text or call to 704-466-4710 or email [email protected]. Please write “Joining GWU Orchestra” in the subject line.
