Donors Have Matching Opportunities to Double Their Impact

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Gardner-Webb University’s Double Dawg Day on April 10 marks a decade of philanthropic milestones. Beginning in 2015, supporters enthusiastically accepted the 24-hour challenge to fund scholarships, enhance classrooms and labs, and improve athletic facilities and training. Each year, the total has surpassed the previous year with 2024’s donors joining from all 50 states and across the globe to once again break records in single-day gifts and giving.

Director of Annual Giving and Advancement Communications Kanisha Fowler expects another exciting Double Dawg Day. “Never underestimate the impact of your gift,” she emphasized. “Your generosity, regardless of the amount, reaches far and wide and influences multiple areas of the University. Previous gifts have provided scholarships, new classroom equipment, and athletic facility renovations that have produced Big South Champions.”

Donors can choose the people, programs and causes they want to support across the GWU campus. Some options include:

  • University Priority Fund, which supports the greatest needs of the University.
  • Annual Fund, which supports student scholarships.
  • School/College Priority Fund, which provides the dean with the ability to respond quickly to emerging opportunities, transform the student experience and strengthen operational capacity.
  • The University’s 22 athletic teams, which supports facilities and training.
The wrestling team was first on last year’s Athletic
Leaderboard.

Donors can take advantage of matching opportunities that could double the impact of their giving. These matching donations are made possible thanks to the generosity of other donors. Faculty and staff have the convenient option of donating through payroll deduction.

In addition to making a gift, individuals can sign up to be a Social Media Ambassadors (also known as advocates this year). Social Media Ambassadors/Advocates share their love for Gardner-Webb on all of their social media channels. Register here by April 3 to be an ambassador and receive a digital ambassador kit. By using #DoubleDawgDay, individuals can show their support and promote the day of giving.

Adding to the excitement, several challenges are sure to spark some friendly competition on the Leaderboards. Donors can participate in several contests to support their graduating class or favorite sports team, college, school, academic program or department.

The College of Health Sciences took first place on the Academic Leaderboard last year.

Leaderboards and Challenges

  • First Gift Challenge – The winner is the first one to make a gift at midnight.
  • 50 States Challenge – We’re asking Runnin’ Bulldogs in every state to contribute.
  • Academic Leaderboard – The academic program that raises the most.
