Biography

Dr. Johnson joined the faculty of the Godbold College of Business at Gardner-Webb University in 2005. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Louisiana Tech University in 1983 and his B.S. in Economics/Finance from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1973. His career experience includes both business and higher education.

His business experience includes 25 years of health care management and consulting experience that included positions as Chief Operating Officer of MORPACE Pharma Group, Inc., Senior Vice-President of the Healthcare Division and Member of the Board of Directors for MORPACE International, Inc., Research Director for Aetna Health Plans, and owner of Johnson Healthcare Consulting, Inc.

Prior to joining the Gardner-Webb University faculty, Dr. Johnson also had 12 years of experience in higher education. Two years as a Visiting Professor at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and prior to getting into the healthcare business, he had 10 years as Associate Professor of Finance at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Dr. Johnson’s research interests are concerned with the financial implications of customer retention and customer advocacy. He has presented several papers on this topic in both the United States and Europe on these topics.
