Home / People / Nicole Ray, MHS, PA-C Nicole Ray, MHS, PA-C Assistant Professor and Principal Faculty Nicole Ray is an assistant professor in the Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies. She is a National Health Service Corps loan repayment recipient. She started practice at Mayland Family Health Center in Spruce Pine, N.C. then transferred to McDowell Health Plus Urgent Care in Marion, N.C. In early 2014, she began working with Blue Ridge Community Health Services, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) based in Hendersonville, N.C. She established a patient panel at the Chimney Rock office before branching into the school-based health program. She remained full-time with Blue Ridge for 10 years and served as associate medical director of School-Based Health for six years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry from UNC-Asheville. She earned her Master of Health Sciences from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program. Her interests include hiking in the Western North Carolina mountains, reading challenges, local live music, and group dance classes.
