Associate Vice President for Communications & Marketing

Noel T. Manning II serves as Associate Vice President for Communications & Marketing, guiding university communications, media relations, video production, photography, and podcasting. He has held a variety of communications and marketing roles at Gardner-Webb University since 1998. In addition to his administrative leadership, Manning serves as an adjunct instructor of communications and managing editor of the university’s award-winning magazine. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Gardner-Webb University and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University. Prior to joining the university, he spent 10 years working as a broadcast journalist.

A film, television, music, and pop culture journalist since 1989, Manning is the host of Meet Me at the Movies on C19 TV and co-host of Screen Scene on NPR affiliate WNCW. He has served as president of the North Carolina Film Critics Association and is an annual contributor to Arts & Faith. His professional affiliations include the Critics Choice Association, the Southeastern Film Critics Association, and the International Press Academy. Manning is also a co-founder of the Real to Reel Film Festival. His creative work includes producing award-winning documentaries, consulting with independent filmmakers and film festivals, and contributing to the Academy Award–winning film The Last of the Mohicans.
