Tami Ruckman

Advancement Officer

Tami is a Major Gifts Officer, working with friends of the University to fulfill their philanthropic goals. She graduated from Gardner-Webb with a double major in Sacred Music and Religious Education. Tami then obtained a Master of Social Work and a Master of Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After spending time on the mission field, she began a lifelong career in non-profit work at a cadre of non-profit organizations in Kentucky, Indiana, and North Carolina. Before joining the team at GWU, Ruckman served as Director of Development at Eliada Home for Children in Asheville, NC.

Tami firmly believes that no one ever had a better time at college than she and her friends as part of the Class of ’83. Every New Years, she and as many as 16 other class members come together to continue their adventures. Gardner-Webb’s impact on their group went far beyond education. From their experiences, they launched careers, families, ministries and values—all they experienced remains a firm part of their lives today. The thread that began at GWU Freshman Orientation remains unbroken.

Ruckman was thrilled to return to work at her alma mater, the place that made such a lasting impression on her and her close circle of friends. She knows they experienced something exceedingly rare and wonderful. Tami considers it an honor to help give that experience to other young people.
