This highly interactive course introduces healthcare workers to the elementary components of the Spanish language as well as the Hispanic culture. It is primarily geared to prepare those working in the medical field to better care for their Hispanic patients by teaching them basic communication skills in the target language and highlighting significant cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking community. Students will learn basic Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and idioms within the context of medicine and wellness while also developing intercultural competence which will both afford the healthcare worker important insights and tools on how to care for their Spanish-speaking clients proficiently and appropriately. A certificate of completion is provided to completers and 24 Gardner-Webb continuing education units (CEUs) are earned.
