Student Update: Potential Snowfall

Weather Schedule Update

Students,

We have all heard the weather forecast and yes it’s exciting to have snow. But please remember that remaining on campus this weekend is clearly the safest thing to do, not just for the weather but for protecting the Covid “bubble” we always try to create. So…Stay in the Springs!

Gardner-Webb officials are monitoring a storm system that is expected to bring wintry precipitation to portions of the North Carolina Piedmont beginning Saturday evening. According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin developing Saturday night through Sunday afternoon. Freezing Rain may mix with the snow at time. Snowfall amounts could be in the 6-8” range.

University Operations staff are pre-treating campus streets and outdoor stairways. They will remain ready to respond Saturday through Monday.

While campus is beautiful in the snow, we are reminding students that it’s important to stay safe during this inclement weather.

Remember:

  • If you must travel, be cautious. Before driving, check for weather advisories. Avoid traveling at all if possible.
  • Make sure to download the LiveSafe app on your phone to make sure that you receive all emergency alerts.
  • Avoid icy sidewalks and stairs. Take the time to walk around and icy spots.

We intend to keep the Cafeteria open normal hours Saturday through Monday (brunch 9am-10am, lunch 11am-1:30pm, dinner 5pm-7pm.) If inclement weather results in changes to our residential dining options, students will be informed with emails and updates through social media.
