Gardner-Webb Exercise Science Students Present Research at Undergraduate Conference

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—A dozen students from Gardner-Webb University’s Department of Exercise Science recently attended the Integrating Research in Science (IRIS) conference at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Gardner-Webb delegation was one of 21 groups that participated in the poster presentation section of the event.

This student-led conference brought together the realms of STEM and STEM-related fields. The one-day event allows undergraduate students to promote their research, network among professors and peers, and prepare for their academic and professional careers by attending expert panels.   • “Does Timing of Carbohydrate Intake Prior to Exercise Influence the Performance of a One-Mile Run for Healthy College-Age Females?” — Trista Williams, Natalie Spencer, Atley Banks, and *Kendal Vest.
