news-category: Athletics Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs Announce Seven Cross-Country Meets for Fall By Office of University Communications On July 30, 2025 Teams Open Season on Aug. 29 at USC-Upstate in Spartanburg BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Head Coach Greg Thiel and the Gardner-Webb University cross country team have announced the upcoming 2025 Fall schedule, featuring seven meets for the Runnin’ Bulldogs across the region.The Runnin’ Bulldogs open 2025 with an evening meet at USC-Upstate in Spartanburg, with the annual Eye Opener scheduled for Aug. 29. GWU then heads to Furman University in Greenville, S.C., on Sept. 13, where the women will take the course at 9 a.m. followed by the men’s race at 9:45 that morning. A pair of trips to Western North Carolina follow with the Runnin’ Bulldogs at the Brevard XC Classic on Sept. 19 and at Appalachian State for the Firetower Project Race on Oct. 3. The Gardner-Webb women will take the course at 4:30 p.m. in Brevard and 5:40 p.m. in Boone, while the men will race at 5:15 p.m. in Brevard and 5 p.m. in Boone.GWU returns to Spartanburg for a second time on Oct. 18 for the Upstate Invite, before traveling to Farmville, Va., on Oct. 31 for the 2025 Big South Cross-Country Championships, hosted by Longwood University. The Runnin’ Bulldogs will seek to qualify for the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Nov. 14, taking place in Charlottesville, Va., and hosted by the University of Virginia.
