news-category: Athletics Women’s Basketball 2024-2025 Schedule Released By Office of University Communications On October 9, 2024 First Non-Conference Home Game is Nov. 4; Big South Season Opens on Jan. 2 at Home vs. Charleston Southern BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—The Big South Conference has announced the women’s basketball league schedule for the upcoming season, featuring 16 conference games for the Gardner-Webb University women’s basketball team. The non-conference line-up begins at home on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena against West Georgia. Next the women travel to Elon on Nov. 8. From there, it’s back home for a game with East Tennessee State on Nov. 12. Then, the Runnin’ Bulldogs are on the road for three games: Nov. 15 at Richmond, Va.; Nov. 17 at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.; and Nov. 21 at UNC-Charlotte. The women are back home on Nov. 23 to compete against Johnson C. Smith. Next up are four road games to Appalachian State on Nov. 27; Wake Forest on Dec. 1; Western Carolina on Dec. 6; and Hampton on Dec. 17. The team is back in Boiling Springs on Dec. 20 to face Queens in Paul Porter Arena for the final non-conference game of the season. The Runnin’ Bulldogs will open Big South play on Thursday, Jan. 2, when Gardner-Webb hosts Charleston Southern inside Paul Porter Arena. Two short road trips will then follow, with GWU visiting Presbyterian on Saturday, Jan. 4, and Winthrop on Wednesday, Jan. 8. January continues with three straight home games for Gardner-Webb, with the ‘Dawgs welcoming High Point to Boiling Springs on Saturday, Jan. 11, ahead of Radford on Jan. 15 and USC Upstate on Jan. 18. The Red and Black will then alternate home-stands through mid-February. Gardner-Webb travels to UNC-Asheville on Jan. 22, and Longwood on Jan. 29, before coming home to play Winthrop on Feb. 1, and UNC-Asheville on Feb. 5, at Paul Porter Arena. Then, it’s back on the road to take on Charleston Southern on Feb. 8, and USC Upstate on Feb. 15. The stretch run to the Big South Championship begins on Feb. 19 where the Runnin’ Bulldogs host Longwood. After the final two road contests of the season at High Point on Feb. 22 and Radford on Feb. 26 back-to-back, GWU closes out conference play at home against Presbyterian on March 1. The 2025 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship then begins on March 5, playing out through March 9 in Johnson City, Tenn.
