Aldrich has dedicated over 25 years to education across North Carolina, serving as an elementary teacher, K-12 reading specialist, high school English teacher, and K-12 school and district administrator. Her notable achievements include National Board Certification in 9-12 ELA, being a recipient of the N.C. Principal Fellows Program, and presenting research globally. Aldrich holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from UNC-Greensboro, a master’s degree in school administration from N.C. State, and an Educational Specialist degree in K-12 educational leadership from Appalachian State. Last year, she completed her doctorate in K-12 educational leadership at UNC-Wilmington.

Get to know Cherie beyond the job title.

Describe your job: I am now in my third academic year at Gardner-Webb. I teach a wide range of undergraduate education courses, from introductory courses to literacy and field experiences, and I supervise student teachers. I also coach and advise doctoral students as they develop their research.

1. What is one project, initiative, or aspect of your work that excites you right now?
   I enjoy working with future teachers at different points in their journey. It is exciting to see their confidence grow as they move from learning about teaching in the classroom to working with students in schools.
   
   
2. What’s something your Gardner-Webb colleagues might be surprised to learn about you?
   I was a Zumba instructor for over ten years, and I hold a North Carolina certification to teach dance. I’m also a big Duke basketball fan!
   
   
3. What does “One Webb” mean to you?
   To me, “One Webb” means that we show up for one another. When faculty, staff, and students work together and support each other, we create a community where everyone has an opportunity to grow.
