Home / People / Kara Alves Kara Alves Director of Success Initiatives and First Year Experiences Kara is the director of Success Initiatives and First Year Experiences in the Division of Student Success. Previously, she was the job location development coordinator in University Career Services at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In that position, she helped connect students to off-campus work opportunities that aligned with their career goals. Before that, she worked in Career Services at Clemson (S.C.) University and gained experience working with leadership programs and counseling. She has a Master of Education in student affairs from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Arts in communications with a marketing minor from Anderson (S.C.) University. Her interests include baking, thrifting, spending time with family and friends and finding new trails to hike.
