Home / People / Michael Covil Michael Covil Assistant Director of Strategic Communications Michael Covil is assistant director of Strategic Communication for the Department of Athletics. Previously, he was employed at Limestone University as coordinator for Media Relations. He was responsible for social media, rosters and statistics while serving as a media liaison for 12 programs in NCAA Division II. He also worked as a broadcast assistant at Anderson (S.C.) University, serving as play-by-play commentator for soccer, basketball and softball games. In 2022, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management from Winthrop University in Rock Hill,S.C. He is an avid sports fan, following mostly soccer, baseball and basketball. He likes to travel and has visited over half of the states in America and most recently traveled to Liverpool, United Kingdom. He is also a weather enthusiast, having previously completed the online SkyWarn spotter course offered through the National Weather Service. He minored in history and is primarily interested in American history and general 20th century history globally.
