category: Recognition Scott Shauf, Ph.D. By Gardner-Webb University On January 5, 2023 Professor, Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy Dr. Shauf presented two papers at the annual national meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in Denver, Colorado, Nov. 18-22, 2022. One was titled “Ambiguous Longing: Sacrifice in the Jewish and Christian Diasporas” and the other “Exodus 24 as the Narrative Underpinning of the Synoptic Lord’s Supper Accounts.” Previous Recognition May 2022 Dr. Shauf published a book, Jesus the Sacrifice: A Historical and Theological Study, with Fortress Academic/Lexington Books. This book was the product of his 2020 spring sabbatical. He also presented a paper titled “Was Jesus’ Death Theologically Necessary?” on May 25, 2022, at the annual national meeting of the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion in Nashville, TN. November 2021 Dr. Shauf presented a paper titled “Ritualizing the Death of Jesus and the Life of the Church” on November 22, 2021, at the annual national meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in San Antonio, TX.
