By Gardner-Webb University On February 2, 2023 Assistant Professor, Department of Natural Sciences Dr. Rowe and Prof. Manahan were accepted and completed the Genomics Education Partnership’s recent Carolinas regional node new member training, with full expenses paid. GEP is a network that includes over 200 institutions where faculty incorporate undergraduate research into course curriculum. The training covered implementation of primary scientific research projects for students, centered in bioinformatics and genomics for upper level molecular Biology courses. This is a transformational opportunity for students to complete molecular biology primary research on our campus and be co-authors on upcoming papers on gene annotations. In addition to completion of projects in upper level courses, students would also be able to complete projects through programs such as the Summer Scholars program and the Honors program.
