Biography

Nate Evans

 Nate Evans has served as Interim President of Gardner-Webb University since February 2025, providing steady, mission-centered leadership during a pivotal period of transition. His tenure has brought strengthened financial operations through disciplined budget management and significant deficit reduction, increased donor confidence, and expanded strategic partnerships across the region. Under his leadership, Gardner-Webb has secured major philanthropic commitments, including one of the largest gifts to the University in more than two decades, while advancing initiatives that elevate the student experience, operational excellence, and the University’s Christ-centered identity. Prior to his interim appointment, Evans served as Vice President for Advancement, leading alumni relations, major gifts, the Bulldog Club, and the annual fund. Before joining Gardner-Webb, he held senior advancement roles at East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, North Carolina. 

Evans began his higher education career in undergraduate admissions at ECU before transitioning into university advancement. Earlier in his professional journey, he served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force and later worked in the small business sector. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in Biology from ECU and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Western Carolina University. Actively engaged in service beyond the institution, Evans has participated in motorcycle ministry and coached middle school wrestling. He is married to Dr. Brittany Evans, and together they enjoy staying active, spending time outdoors, riding motorcycles, and building meaningful relationships with others in the community.
