Johnson C. Smith University PA Applicants 

Gardner-Webb University (GWU) PA Program has a partnership with Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) students/alumni. 

Each application cycle two JCSU students meeting criteria for admission to GWU’s PA program can apply as a Reserve Applicant. This reserve status affords them an opportunity to interview with the program, waives the supplemental application fee ($100), and if granted admission, waives the acceptance deposit fee ($1500).  

To be considered a Reserve Applicant, one must: 

  1. Apply to Gardner-Webb’s PA program through CASPA (the central application portal for all PA programs)
  2. Meet ALL prerequisite requirements for admission, including:
  3. earning a 3.0 minimum average GPA in prerequisite courses
  4. having a minimum of 1000 hours of hands-on patient care experience
  5. providing three letters of recommendation (one from a PA, NP, MD, or DO)
  6. demonstrating US citizenship or permanent residency
  7. meeting technical standards of the GWU PA program, and
  8. graduating from JCSU no later than September 1 of the application year
  9. Submit an essay articulating the goals and plans for healthcare contributions to medically underserved populations
  10. Complete all enrollment processes and post acceptance requirements if selected for admission
  11. Applicants must obtain a Letter of Endorsement from Dr. Patrick Martin, Dean, College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM, Johnson C. Smith University.

All application requirements must be completed through CASPA including the GWU supplemental application.
