Sarah Walker

Passionate Bulldog

Newton, NC

“GWU felt homey. I came for a visit and I knew it’s where God had called me.”

Sarah W.

Sarah Walker, ’23, is a Graphic Design major at GWU who is also passionate about leading others to Christ. During high school, Sarah was part of the yearbook team and wanted to continue her education that would carve her way to a career within that industry. She also saw herself being involved in the mission field in her future. At Gardner-Webb, she’s on that path, hoping to explore her interest in graphic design and use it in ministry.

Because of Sarah’s passion for ministry, she loves being around people and making them laugh. Sarah was involved in FOCUS (The Fellowship of Christians United in Service), which consists of teams of students and leaders that meet weekly to plan service projects, Bible studies, retreats, and times of worship.

During her freshman year, Sarah became a FOCUS member, and sophomore year, she took a big step out of her comfort zone – she became a FOCUS leader. “It changed me for the better,” she said. “It allowed me to make personal and genuine connections with people that were centered around Christ. Being a leader helped me grow in leadership but also furthered my relationship with Christ. I wouldn’t trade that opportunity for the world!” She is also actively involved in women’s ministry opportunities.
