Talen Francis ’22

Talen Francis

Athletic Bulldog

Kennesaw, GA

“There was a club for each of my interests.”

Talen, about GWU’s 60+ clubs and organizations

Talen Francis knew she wanted to play lacrosse here at Gardner-Webb, so she made it happen. While on the field, she has scored 123 goals for the Women’s Lacrosse team. Even though Talen is an Athletic Bulldog, she’s been successful in more areas than just sports. She is double majoring in Political Science and Psychology with an interdisciplinary minor of Sociology and Psychology. After graduation, Talen plans to attend law school in Georgia.

“GWU offers you a unique opportunity to expand in multiple areas of yourself,” Talen said. “I am a much more confident person now than I was when I got here.” She decided the join SGA (Student Government Association), and she was surrounded by ambitious and driven people. The SGA members “taught me not to limit myself and how to go after my goals.”

Talen continues to meet more people and get even more involved. In addition to being part of SGA for three years, she served as President for SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee), BSA (Black Student Association), and the Pre-Law Society.

She stays involved, even with a busy sport schedule. She’s participated in volunteer trips with Women’s Lacrosse, SAAC fundraisers, and in GWU’s 5K Race to End Racism. Talen most definitely takes advantage of GWU’s athletic events as well. She loves supporting her fellow Bulldogs at basketball, football, tennis, soccer, and baseball games.

To incoming freshmen, Talen says, “College is a special opportunity that not everyone gets to experience. Don’t waste your time in your room. Get out and experience what the campus has to offer.”

GWU is full of all types of Bulldogs, some like Talen. No matter your interests, you’ll find a club or team that shares your interests!
