Dr. Putnam and Dr. Brown were invited to present for Duke University Graduate School’s Professional Development Lunch and Learn series. Their session, “Guiding Graduate Students: Maximizing Mentorship through Autonomy, Competence, and Relatedness”, was presented on February 26, 2024.

Dr. Brown and Dr. Putnam presented at the North Carolina Council of Graduate Schools (NCCGS) Annual Meeting in Greensboro, NC, on November 10, 2023. Their presentation, “Quashing Quiet Quitting: Applying Deci and Ryan’s Self-Determination Theory to Empower Graduate School Staff,” focused on fostering a more motivated, engaged, and committed workforce that is better equipped to support graduate students in achieving their academic and professional goals. 

January 2023

Dr. Putnam co-authored a chapter with Dr. Mindy Duckworth, a Fall 2021 graduate of the College of Education titled, “The Importance of Supporting the Social-Emotional Skills of Teacher Educators in the Post-Covid Era.” In P.H. Bull & G.C. Patterson (Eds) Redefining Teacher Education and Teacher Preparation Programs in the Post-COVID-19 Era (IGI Global book, 2022).

    Assistant Professor, Department of Physician Assistant Studies Dr. Allison Shamblin, assistant professor and director of Didactic Education, Department of Physician Assistant Studies, completed her Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree in August 2024 at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. Her dissertation was titled “Implementing Active Learning into Graduate-Level Education.
