A Bachelor of Science in Sport Management will equip you with a broad understanding of the business side of sport, while also providing you instruction in an array of other business disciplines and offering opportunities for field experience through internships and community service.
As a Sport Management major at Gardner-Webb, you will receive instruction in management, business, communications, social ethics, governance, and leadership principles uniquely and specifically related to the field of sport management through studies in several university departments.
In addition to the University’s required general education and prerequisites, the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management includes 48 hours of Sport Management coursework. Since Sport Management encompasses a broad umbrella within sport, it allow students to minor or double major in their specific area of interest in the sport industry.
Coupled with classroom studies rooted in Christian ethics, you will apply your education in an internship that will help you build professional contacts, prepare for the future and earn academic credit.
When you graduate, you will be equipped with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and prepared to take on a sport management career in the field that interests you most.

A minor in Sport Management requires 15 credit hours of coursework, including studies in basic principles, sport facility design, legal issues, ethics and leadership, and more.

The Accelerated Master of Sport Management (MSM) program allows Gardner-Webb undergraduate students to begin work in the MSM program while completing their bachelor’s degree.
Qualified students may apply for admission to the Accelerated MSM during their junior year (or after 60 credit hours). If accepted, students can take up to six credit hours of graduate coursework to apply toward their MSM degree and earn combination credit for these hours at the undergraduate level.
Courses in this program are taught online in eight-week terms to increase flexibility.
