June 23, 2022, marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity by any education program or activity that receives federal funds.
Beginning on the anniversary and continuing throughout the year, Gardner-Webb University will explore 50 years of Title IX by examining how far gender equality has come in the United States since 1972 and what more needs to be done.
Help us tell the story by sharing your experiences. We want to recognize and celebrate our alumni, faculty, staff, and students who have been impacted by the Title IX law and the opportunities and experiences it has provided and protected. Share your story, as well as a photo or video/audio recording with us to be included in the storytelling we publish on our website and social platforms.
As we celebrate the impact of Title IX , we cannot forget to honor the women of the Gardner-Webb community who paved the way and their incredible success and achievements.
