Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for counseling services?
All currently enrolled Gardner-Webb University students are eligible for free counseling services. This includes both on-campus and online students residing in North Carolina, as long as services fall within the Counseling Center’s scope of practice.

How do I make an appointment?
You can contact the Counseling Center by phone, online appointment request link, email, or in person during office hours to request an appointment. Availability may vary depending on counselor schedules and student demand.

What if I need long term or specialized care?
If you require ongoing, intensive, or specialized treatment beyond what we offer, we can help connect you with trusted outside providers.

What if I am located out of state?
Due to licensing regulations, counselors can only provide services to students physically located in states where they are licensed. If you are out of state, please visit our Counseling Resources page or seek local providers in your area.

Is everything I share confidential?
Yes. Counseling sessions are confidential, and your information will not be shared without your written consent. Exceptions apply only when required by law or ethical guidelines, such as concerns involving safety, abuse, or threats of harm.
