Social Media Policy

The Department defines social media as any social networking site (e.g., Facebook (Meta), X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, etc.). PA students are strictly prohibited from posting any information regarding other students, faculty, staff, or patients on social media without the individual’s consent and the prior approval of PA faculty. Under no circumstances should PA students make any social media posts regarding patients, preceptors, and/or clinical activities. Furthermore, posting derogatory information, even in a generalized statement, violates the standards of professional behavior required of a student in the GWU Department of PA Studies and is subject to disciplinary action.

Enrolled students who use social media are discouraged from connecting with the faculty and staff of the Department of PA Studies. Additionally, faculty using social media are discouraged from interfacing with the GWU Department of PA Studies students.

All postings must adhere to federal, state, and professional organizational rules and regulations (HIPAA and FERPA) and meet the GWU Social Media Guidelines.
