Ignite Your Strength

Paint up for the Dawg Pound, work on your fitness, or join in on a little healthy competition – here are some ways you can stay active!

Gardner-Webb students have a front row seat to 22 Division I athletic programs. The Dawg Pound cheering section injects every home event with energy and passion and often travels to make sure GWU’s presence is felt, whether we’re up against conference rivals or defeating nationally ranked programs. Visit to view stats, highlights, and the athletic schedule to find out when and where to cheer on the Runnin’ Bulldogs next.

Campus Recreation

Our facilities and programs ensure that you don’t neglect your body while educating your mind. You can follow your own tried and true fitness routines at the Suttle Wellness Center (and outside on the campus’ numerous paths and green spaces), or take a group fitness class for a more social, structured experience. Campus Recreation also organizes and hosts intramural leagues throughout the year, giving you plenty of opportunities for healthy competition.

Additional campus athletic facilities include an indoor climbing wall at the Tucker Student Center, The Broyhill Adventure Course, a disc golf course, and a variety of multipurpose athletic fields.
