CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness. (Courtesy CrossFit Inc.)
Fitness is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Wellness is achieved through proper exercise, nutrition, and rest. Group fitness classes as well as individual workout sessions are available to students, staff, and faculty, most of which are offered through The Suttle Wellness Center. The Center features a Fitness/Wellness room complete with state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Complementing the Fitness/Wellness room is a free weight room as well as an aerobics studio, both of which are located just off the Bost Gymnasium floor. The complex also contains a heated swimming pool enclosed for year-round use.
The Campus Recreation Office offers free daily CrossFit classes for Gardner-Webb University students, faculty and staff. Weekly Refit classes are also offered in the Suttle Wellness Center. All fitness classes are offered for free. Registration for specific fitness classes can be completed on IMleagues.
