August is Black Business Month

During this period, people become more aware of and show more backing for businesses owned by Black entrepreneurs. While this is positive, why not continue supporting these businesses throughout the entire year?

By backing Black-owned enterprises, you’re actually contributing to the welfare of Black communities. This support plays a role in building a strong economy that benefits everyone. Your support, whether it’s through spending, time, or speaking up, leads to job creation, fortifies local economies, and addresses the wealth disparity among different racial groups.

There are numerous approaches you can take to show your support for Black-owned businesses. Here are a few suggestions to start with today!

1. Look up Black-owned businesses in your area or online.
2. Shop at/choose Black-owned businesses. 
3. Inspire others to shop at/choose Black-owned business.
4. If you’re a business owner, look for opportunities to collaborate with Black entrepreneurs.
5. Attend events, pop-up markets, or fairs featuring Black-owned businesses.
6. Follow and engage with Black-owned businesses on social media.
7. Donate to or volunteer with nonprofits and organizations that focus on empowering and supporting Black-owned businesses.
8. Purchase gift cards from Black-owned businesses, even if you don’t need anything immediately.
