Student Evaluation & Grading

ARC-PA 6th ed Standards A3.14a, B4.01

Assignments and Assessments

Assignments and assessments are administered at the discretion of the course/module director and/or instructor, as delineated in the course syllabus.

The course director determines the grading components and associated weights for each course and will determine the type of assessment instrument(s) utilized. Course syllabi provide course content and expectations, and the PA student’s responsibility is to become familiar with this information.

Incompletes

Students are expected to complete all coursework prior to the end of the semester/term. However, it is sometimes possible for a faculty member to issue an Incomplete (I) designation to permit the completion of coursework after the semester/term has finished. Students should be aware that they initiate a discussion regarding an incomplete, and this discussion must occur before the semester/term ends. Specific criteria and information regarding requesting an incomplete can be found in the Incomplete Grades policy in the Graduate Academic Catalog.

In addition, an Incomplete (I) grade may be given during the clinical year SCPE courses when SCPE-specific assignments (eg, clinical hours, EOR exams, etc) are unable to be completed by the end of an academic semester due to clinical scheduling circumstances. In this case, an Incomplete (I) grade is assigned by program faculty and communicated to the student.

Grade Rounding Policy

The program does not endorse rounding grades earned by PA students. No grades earned in the program will be rounded up to the whole number.
