Photography Guidelines

Photography plays a vital role in shaping how people see Gardner-Webb. Images give audiences an immediate impression of our university and are an essential tool for telling the Gardner-Webb story. High-quality, on-brand photography reinforces the excellence and character of our institution.

Whenever possible, professional photography should be used—especially in external communications. Websites, print pieces, and digital campaigns should be designed by professionals who understand proper image use and brand standards.

Technical Guidelines

  • Photos must be high resolution.
  • Photo size minimum: 9 in by 12 in, 2700 x 3600 pixels
  • Image Resolution: 300 DPI
  • Format: JPEG, TIFF or RAW
  • Do not scale up digital images beyond their original size, as this leads to distortion and reduced quality.
  • To emphasize our brand, incorporate GWU red as the primary color in apparel, backgrounds, and accents whenever possible. Secondary tones of orange or yellow may also be used to complement the composition.

GWU Image Library

The Gardner-Webb image library provides approved photography to support marketing and communication needs. Faculty and staff can search and download images in the correct sizes and resolutions for use across GWU websites, print publications, and promotional materials.
