Orchestra featuring Mark and Maggie O' Connor

The University Orchestra (MUSC 386) is comprised of a full complement of strings, full winds and brass and percussion.

Numbering approximately 60-80 musicians depending upon repertoire, the orchestra
performs several concerts per year, and also functions as Cleveland County’s main
regional orchestra.

The orchestra is comprised primarily of GWU students but also welcomes members of
the community. Orchestra enrollment is by audition only, though strings may join without audition. The University Orchestra is a full member of the League of American
Orchestras and the Association of Symphony Orchestras of North Carolina.

The orchestra performs concerts on and off campus in support of community relations
and music education enrichment and hosts a festival for local area high school and
middle school string students.
